While Simcoe Grey M-P Helena Guergis has been cleared by the RCMP of any wrongdoing in the allegations against her, the federal conservatives appear unlikely to welcome back into the party. The Mounties told Guergis' lawyer on Wednesday there was no substance to the allegations and the case was closed. Guergis had resigned her junior cabinet post and was booted from the Conservative caucus and has been sitting as an independent in the House of Commons. A Conservative Party spokesman says Guergis was removed from caucus for a number of reasons, not just the allegations, and it's unlikely she will be welcomed back.
