Narendra Modi wins TIME’s 2016 Person of the Year Online Poll

TIME's 2016 Person of the Year will be announced December 7th

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has won the online reader’s poll for TIME Person of the Year, but editors have the final say as to who gets the prestigious title.

Modi won 19% of the vote, well ahead of Barack OBama, Donald Trump, who both received 7% of the vote. Hillary Clinton received 4% of the vote and Mark Zuckerberg got 2%.

Every year, TIME’s person of the year is chosen for their overall global influence; good or bad. Last year’s person of the year was Angela Merkel.
